This title shall not be construed as imposing upon the City or any official or employee thereof, any liability or responsibility for damages to any property or injuries to any person resulting from defects in building construction, defective plumbing, or drainage systems or installation thereof, or electrical or gas installations or by installations of containers for the storage or use of flammable products, nor shall the City or any official or employee thereof be held as assuming any such liability or responsibility by reason of the inspection performed or permit issued by the Inspector, or by any reason of any act or omission in the discharge of their duties. Nor shall the City or any official or employee thereof be held as assuming any liability or responsibility for property damage from any cause whatsoever which may have been caused by gas leakage, fire or explosion of any sort arising from or during the operation of any gas appliance or house gas piping, electrical application or electric wiring or from the storage or use of flammable products.

Any suit brought against any City employee because of any such act or omission by them in the enforcement of any provisions of this title shall be defended by the City Attorney until final termination of the proceedings. (Ord. 1062 § 14, 2022; Ord. 317 § 11, 1965)
