A family dwelling unit unlicensed or licensed or supervised by any federal, state, or local health/welfare agency which provides twenty-four-hour nonmedical care of unrelated persons who are in need of personal services, supervision, or assistance essential for sustaining the activities of daily living or for the protection of the individual, in a residential setting. The number of persons living in such a home is not limited by City ordinance. For the purposes of this definition, a “family dwelling unit” includes, but is not limited to, a single-family residence, a unit in a multifamily dwelling, including a unit in a duplex and a unit in an apartment building, a mobile home including a mobile home located in a mobile home park, a unit in a cooperative, a unit in a condominium, a unit in a townhouse, and a unit in a planned district. A group home may provide supportive and transitional housing as defined in this chapter and by Health and Safety Code Section 50675.14.
