The purpose of these regulations is to provide opportunities for new accessory dwelling units (ADUs) and junior ADUs (JADUs) to widen the range of housing types available in the City of Larkspur, particularly for couples, small families, young people, seniors, and in-home health and childcare providers. The purpose of these regulations is also to comply with Cal. Gov’t Code Sections 65852.2, 65852.22 and 65852.26 which provide for local jurisdictions to set standards for the development of accessory dwelling units and junior accessory dwelling units so as to increase the supply of smaller and affordable housing while ensuring they remain compatible with the existing neighborhood architectural character.
