The Marin County Tobacco Control Program considers local tobacco retail license regulations an effective deterrent to the violation of existing tobacco laws. Tobacco retail license ordinances restrict youth access to tobacco and tobacco products by providing a mechanism for revoking a retailer’s ability to sell tobacco. Additionally, communities are adopting local prohibitions against the sale of flavored tobacco products as a way to further reduce smoking and promote public health. (Ord. 1037 § 2, 2019)
